FAQs:
I offer a depth-oriented approach that goes beyond managing symptoms. Together, with curiosity and care, we will explore the underlying patterns, emotional roots, and unconscious dynamics shaping your experience.
We will work through reflective dialogue, while also paying attention to bodily experience, feelings, thoughts and imagination. We slow down and notice what is emerging in the moment, and we make space for meaning and symbolism in ways that feel right for you.
We may work mainly through talking and, when it feels helpful, include creative expression (image cards, objects, movement, or other creative responses), as well as mindfulness or breathing practices to support grounding and awareness. Our work is shaped relationally and collaboratively, at a pace that feels supportive.
Along the way, you may develop self-regulation tools, deepen self-reflection and self-understanding, and strengthen your mind–body connection, so you can feel more resourced in your life.
It may be a good fit if you:
- would like psychotherapy that goes beyond managing symptoms, and want to explore underlying patterns and unconscious dynamics
- are curious about meaning, symbolism, dreams, and the unconscious
- want to deepen self-reflection and self-understanding
- would like psychotherapy that includes gentle attention to how experiences are held in the body, alongside reflective dialogue
- sometimes find words hard, and are open to exploring through creative media (you don’t need to be “creative” or artistic)
- would like a psychotherapeutic process that brings body, mind, feelings, and imagination into a reflective dialogue, supporting body-mind connection, wholeness and healing.
No, you do not need to be artistic or “good” at anything, and no prior experience is needed. In arts psychotherapies, you do not need art skills to benefit; what matters is curiosity and willingness to explore.
Creative expression in psychotherapy is not about making something impressive. It is simply another way to notice and explore your inner experience (for example, through an image card, an object, a gesture or movement, or a simple drawing). We can keep it very simple, and you are always free to stick to talking if that feels best.
Psychotherapy can be short-term or long-term, depending on your needs and what feels helpful for you. As the work progresses, we will review the duration together. You are free to stop at any time and, if you decide to end, we will plan a clear and thoughtful ending with time to bring the work to a close.
In-person sessions take place in my consulting room in Angel/Islington, London, within a short walk of Angel Underground and Old Street stations. For full address and directions, please visit the Contact (www.anaerra.com/contact)page.
Yes. I offer online sessions, which can be a helpful option if you prefer to meet remotely or are not able to come in person.
Online sessions take place via a secure, encrypted video platform. I will send you a link in advance, and we will meet at the agreed time as we would in person.
In addition to a private, quiet space where you won’t be overheard or interrupted and a good internet connection, you will need a laptop, tablet or computer (please avoid using a mobile phone) with a working camera and microphone.
Ideally, place your device on a stable surface (rather than holding it) and sit somewhere with good light, so you can be seen clearly.
